Why DBT + Yoga?

What exactly is Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and how does it integrate with yoga to support mindfulness?

DBT is a therapeutic approach rooted in the principles of mindfulness, acceptance, and dialectics. Developed by Dr. Marsha Linehan, DBT combines cognitive-behavioral techniques with mindfulness practices to help individuals develop skills for managing emotions, coping with stress, and improving interpersonal relationships. Central to DBT is the concept of dialectics, which emphasizes finding balance and acceptance of opposing truths or perspectives.

Yoga is an ancient practice that originated in India and encompasses physical postures, breathwork, and meditation techniques. At its core, yoga promotes union of the mind, body, and spirit, fostering a sense of interconnectedness and inner peace.

By integrating DBT and yoga principles, our Yoga Skills Workshop offers participants a comprehensive toolkit for enhancing mindfulness and emotional regulation. Through a combination of yoga postures, breathwork, and mindfulness exercises, participants learn to observe and accept their thoughts and emotions without judgment.
